RCQ Annual General Meeting

 

The 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Rotary Club of Queenstown (RCQ) was held on Monday, 2 December 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Tanglin Club (Raffles Room). Members unable to attend in person participated via Zoom.

Key highlights of the meeting included:

• Approval of Minutes: The minutes of last year’s AGM and EGM were reviewed and approved.

• Bylaws and Financial Reports: Proposed changes to RCQ bylaws and the audited financial reports were presented and approved.

• Board Officers: The Board Officers for the Rotary Year (RY) 2025-2026 were approved.

• Treasurer Report: Rotarian Anne-Sophie presented the Treasurer’s Report for Rotary Year 2023-2024.

New Incentive for RCQ Membership Referrals

The cost for Monday dinners will be reduced from SD50 to SD25 in the coming weeks. This initiative aims to encourage potential members to attend our meetings and events over the next few months. Prospective members whose admissions are approved by the club will be officially inducted during the grand celebrations of our 50th anniversary, marked with full pomp and ceremony.

The spirit of togetherness and joy filled the air at Tanglin Club, Raffles Room, as members and their families, friends, and supporters of RCQ came together for a heartwarming Christmas party. It was a special evening of rekindling  connections and celebrating the season of giving. The room buzzed with conversation as familiar faces caught up, reminiscing about shared moments and looking forward to the future. 
 
Of the highlights of the evening was the musical performances and the group sing-along, where everyone joined in to sing traditional Christmas carols, creating a symphony of voices that echoed the warmth of the community and shared purpose. A delicious meal followed, where members shared not just the food, but stories, gratitude, and hopes for the coming year. This gathering was a beautiful reminder of the power of unity and camaraderie, and the joy that comes from giving and belonging.

Rotary Brings Hope
"Rotary Life" sharing session on December 6th, with the seniors at the FRCS Active Aging Centre organized by PP Edward Wong, followed by a meal at a local restaurant with some of the seniors. PP Chee gave a talk on TaiChi in the afternoon at the same venue.
 
 
 
Members at the Family Service Centre on December 7th, 2024. They visited the Centre to meet the team, learn about their programs and services and explore collaboration.

Honoring 100 Years of Rotary Service in Africa

Rotary District 3310 is organizing a special trip to Kenya in early January 2025 to celebrate 100 years of Rotary service in Africa. The trip is divided into two segments:

• January 8–11: Safari adventure

• January 12–15: Medical mission, Rotary projects, and a Rotary Friendship Exchange

The 2025 Council on Legislation of Rotary International

The 2025 Council on Legislation will take place in Chicago from April 13–17, 2025.

Rotary clubs and districts can use an online form to submit statements of support, opposition, or general comments on the proposed legislation. Statements from clubs must be submitted by the club president, while district statements must be submitted or confirmed by the district governor.

      - Online registration has already started
      
 
District President Elects are invited to register for attending 35th PETS and DTA immediately.
Rotarians are also invited to register for the DTA (District Training Assembly) soonest possible.
In conjunction with 35th PETS/DTA, we will be producing a Souvenir Magazine. We invite Rotarians and Friends to place Advertisements and/or Congratulatory Message Pages at nominal costs.
Sponsors have been secured for the cost of printing of the Souvenir Magazine (about RM20,000).
The received from the paid pages shall be entirely applied to Johor Projects, specifically for low income families, during Rotary Year 2025-2026.
